Brown in colour with gills underneath the cap and a slim stem, this spongy textured mushroom has a very intense woody taste and meaty texture.

 

Seasons: Available all year round.

Regions: The growing region in Western Australia is Perth & Surrounds

Revered for its medicinal properties in Chinese Medicine the shitake is excellent for Asian and Italian dishes such as stirfries, soups, pasta and risotto.
